US President Donald Trump has told European leaders that he will not discuss Ukraine's territories and will insist on an unconditional ceasefire during his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on 15 August.

The U.S. president told his European peers that he wouldn’t negotiate territorial issues during Friday’s meeting in Alaska but seek an immediate cease-fire instead.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said the positions of Ukraine, its European allies and US President Donald Trump are "very much in agreement" ahead of a planned meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska later this week.
