The Broncos rested most starters against the Cardinals on Saturday, plus players working their way back from injuries.
NFL teams must cut their rosters from 90 to 53 by 2 p.m. on Aug. 26. Every year, much is made about players being sure bets to get claimed by other teams, and every year the number is lower than expected — often less than one per team. Earlier today, Denver Broncos insider Mike Klis reported the Broncos had signed fullback Adam Prentice. In order to make room for Prentice, a corresponding roster move had to be made. According to Zac Stevens of DNVR, offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo has been placed on injured reserve. That news was confirmed by Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette.
First, the team placed cornerback Gregory Junior (hamstring) on the waived/injured list. To fill Junior's former spot on the offseason roster, the Broncos signed cornerback Micah Abraham. Denver now has 91 players on the roster.
Broncos coach Sean Payton and Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon agreed before Saturday's game that they wouldn't play their starters.
The Denver Broncos are bringing in a familiar face at fullback. The Broncos are set to sign veteran Adam Prentice, according to KPRC-TV's Aaron Wilson. Denver needed to add a fullback following two injuries at the position.
