The tech giant says it now plans to invest $600 billion over the next four years, while Trump threatens 100% tariffs on imported semiconductors.

The investment pledge, expected to be discussed at a White House event later Wednesday, adds to a $500 billion, four-year commitment Apple made in February that repackaged much of Apple’s existing spending plans in the U.S., according to analysts. “We’re proud to increase our investments across the United States,” Cook said.

The White House said the pledge would bring more of the company’s supply chain and advanced manufacturing to the United States.
