Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz says people will not be permitted on the beach after lifeguards go off-duty when conditions are dangerous.

Beaches in Seaside Heights typically open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. when lifeguards leave for the day, Vaz said.

Seaside Heights beaches will close by 5 p.m. on days of rough surf and rip currents, two hours earlier than the previous 7 p.m. closure.
