Although some share a similar form factor to the Raspberry Pi, and many also copy the GPIO pinouts, in many cases, these other computers offer features unavailable in a traditional Raspberry Pi.

One of the biggest draws of the Raspberry Pi family of single board computers or SBCs is their expandability. That comes via the standard 40-pin GPIO header on the full-sized boards.

With Opto-pi, there is not an electrical connection between the Raspberry Pi and connected loads (motors, relay coils, etc.) or input signals. Opto-pi uses light to isolate the 8 digital GPIO pins.
