The Azure Storage services include shares, directories, and files. A share may be defined as a logical representation of drives that can be mapped. A share comprises of one or more directories.

Setting up a place to store files in the cloud isn't quite as easy as doing it on-prem. That's where Microsoft's Azure Files service comes in.

Cloud storage to use inside your cloud service: Azure Files represents another step towards blending the concepts of Platform and Infrastructure as a Service for a very pragmatic approach to cloud.

Zone redundant storage is now generally available for Azure Files premium tier, in additional to LRS. Currently being offered in the West Europe region, coverage will soon be expanded.
