The Smyrna City Council agreed 7-0 Tuesday to ask the U.S. Postal Service to change the ZIP code for Smyrna residents who now have the Mableton ZIP code of 30126.

The change will help the postal service efficiently sort and deliver mail and allow for the addition of new delivery routes and new addresses in the area, according to the department's news release.
