Scientists at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee were involved in the detection of the collision of two neutron stars.

On Aug. 17m 2017, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and the Virgo Interferometer both detected gravitational waves from the collision between two neutron stars.
