The Road Commission for Oakland County is working with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to assess options for repairs after Orion Road was closed due to flood damage.

On Friday road crews set up four pumps to boost drainage. Crews are also removing debris that blocked a culvert under Orion Road and then the culvert has to be inspected for any damage.

Oakland County Road Commission spokeswoman Cindy Dingell said torrential rains in Oakland Township on Wednesday, July 16, caused Paint Creek to crest, overwhelming a culvert beneath Orion Road.

“Please be advised that Orion Road just south of Dutton Road will be closed until further notice due to yesterday’s flooding,” Oakland Township posted on its website.
