For the third time in a little more than a month, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was in a Nashville courthouse July 16, for a hearing meant to determine whether he remains in federal custody. Judge Waverly Crenshaw said at the conclusion of the two-hour hearing that he will likely rule next week.

Lawyers for Kilmar Abrego Garcia tried to poke holes in the federal human smuggling case against him on Wednesday, while a federal judge won't rule this week on releasing Abrego Garcia from jail, a decision that could ultimately lead to his deportation.
